Specialty coffee in Latvia

Specialty coffee in Latvia is centred on Riga, where roasters such as Rocket Bean and Kalve run their own cafés, mostly in the Art Nouveau district. Riga's specialty scene is built around a handful of roasters with café networks. Rocket Bean runs several cafés in the city and has expanded to Tallinn and Vilnius, while Kalve Coffee Roasters has roasted in Riga for more than eight years and runs its own Espresso Rooms. Multi-roaster cafés such as Miit pour Latvian roaster Tiny Giant alongside Berlin's Five Elephant.

Riga holds nearly all of the country's specialty cafés and roasters. Most sit in and around the Art Nouveau district, with only a few specialty bars in the Old Town. Daugavpils, Liepāja and Ventspils each have a café.

Roasters that shape Latvian taste include Rocket Bean Roastery, KALVE Coffee Roastery, Andrito Coffee Roastery and Tīrs Miers. Expect coffees such as Ethiopian and Rwandan lots on the bar, espresso and filter at most cafés, and bakery-cafés such as Mīkla that treat coffee and pastry with equal care.
