About Closer Coffee
Closer Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster in Ventspils, roasting in an open-type micro-roastery inside its own café on Baznīcas iela.
The business is led by Mārtiņš Drungils, formerly roastmaster at Rocket Bean in Riga, and offers espresso roasts, filter roasts and single origins. Recent coffees have included several Colombians, among them a Geisha and a decaf, a Tarrazú lot from Costa Rica and a rotating line of experimental coffees.
Beyond its own bar, Closer Coffee works with other cafés that want to roast their own beans, supplying equipment, green coffee, recipe development, quality control and training through a subscription model aimed at decentralising roasting.
