About Tautona Coffee

Tautona Coffee is an Oita specialty coffee roaster founded in 2012 by Shuhei Yamashita.

It describes itself as the prefecture's first specialty roastery and espresso shop. Yamashita trained at Ogawa Coffee in Kyoto, began on a 5 kg Fuji Royal and later added a Buhler roaster. The range covers six or seven single origins and two house blends from light to darker roasts, and every coffee in store can be tasted before buying. The company is an SCAJ member and follows a seed-to-cup quality approach.

It runs the Rokubo Roastery and a café in Oita's red-brick building near JR Oita Station, plus an online shop.
