About LIGHT UP COFFEE Mitaka

LIGHT UP COFFEE is a specialty coffee roaster in Mitaka, on Tokyo's western side, founded in 2014 by Yuma Kawano and Tamito Aihara. Its roastery opened in September 2023 with a 22 kg Probat UG22 and a 20-seat café.

The company roasts light, fruit-forward single origins from producers in Brazil, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Vietnam, and is involved in farms in Bali and Dalat. Cafés operate in Kichijoji and Shimokitazawa, where a public cupping runs every Monday morning.

The roughly 30-person team also runs an online barista community and supplies wholesale beans.
