About Kurasu Kyoto Stand
Kurasu is a Kyoto specialty coffee roaster and brewing-equipment retailer founded by Yozo Otsuki. It began in 2013 as an online shop in Sydney selling Japanese goods, shifted to coffee equipment in 2015, and now roasts its own coffee at the Nishijin Roastery in Kyoto, opened in 2021 and open to the public on set days each month.
Roasting is done on a Giesen W6A with a focus on light roasts for filter. Monthly subscriptions pair Kurasu coffees with lots from partner roasters across Japan, and 2026 offerings include Colombia, El Salvador, Ecuador, Kenya and Costa Rica single origins.
Kurasu runs cafés in Kyoto as well as Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta and other cities.
