About Coffee Exchange

Coffee Exchange is a Providence specialty coffee roaster that opened on Wickenden Street in 1984.

It was founded by the Fishbein family and is now run by Charlie Fishbein.

It roasts in a red Diedrich visible from the counter, with longtime roaster Mike Carr at the machine for nearly thirty years. About 80 percent of its coffee comes through Cooperative Coffees from Central and South America, Asia and Africa, and nearly all of it is organic and fair-trade certified.

Each New Year's Day the shop holds a 1st Cup fundraiser for Coffee Kids and the Coffee Trust, and its coffee house occupies a former church rectory across from its first address.
