About Chugach Mountain Roasters
Chugach Mountain Roasters is a family-run, small-batch Anchorage specialty coffee roaster owned by the married couple Kerry McCourt and Lyle Kass.
They started roasting in a friend's garage, became commercially viable in a corner of a neighborhood restaurant and then built their own space in Spenard, near Ted Stevens International Airport. The roaster buys from farmers who look after the land they farm, through supply chain partners that invest in producing communities with infrastructure, education and financing. It packs coffee in biodegradable packaging with sugarcane-derived labels and makes compostable single-use pour-overs. Its coffee is served at its Spenard café and at a second café on East Northern Lights Boulevard with views of the Chugach Range.
