About A Matter of Concrete — A.M.O.C.
A Matter of Concrete (A.M.O.C.) is a specialty coffee roastery in Rotterdam's Van Nelle Factory, founded in 2021 by award-winning roaster Rob Clarijs.
Clarijs was a head roaster for eight years and won Coffee Masters London in 2019 before starting A.M.O.C. The roastery works on a Loring S35 Kestrel with a Sovda colour sorter, and takes a data-driven approach, choosing coffees through blind cupping for clean, flavourful, complex cups. The range is split between classic profiles and uncommon, rare and single-variety lots, bought directly from farmers and processing stations with full traceability. The name nods to the Van Nelle Factory's pioneering concrete construction, once Europe's largest coffee roastery. A.M.O.C. also runs a store for brewing gear and ships across Europe and beyond; visits to the roastery are by appointment.
