Specialty coffee in Malta

Specialty coffee in Malta is spread in small numbers across the island, from Valletta and Gżira to Marsaskala, where Little Chief roasts its own coffee. The Maltese specialty scene is a collection of independent cafés rather than a single hub. Valletta, Sliema and Gżira have the most, and some cafés roast in-house: Sakura to Sea is run by Q Graders who roast their own beans, and Victoria Central roasts on Gozo. Many offer V60, Chemex, AeroPress and siphon alongside espresso.

Valletta has the largest group listed here, followed by Gżira. Specialty cafés also appear in Sliema, San Ġiljan, San Ġwann, Birżebbuġa, Wied il-Għajn and on Gozo.

Roasters include Little Chief in Marsaskala. Expect espresso alongside manual brewing, and a scene where several cafés roast for themselves.
