About Democratic Coffee
Democratic Coffee is a specialty coffee bar beside the Central Library on Krystalgade in Copenhagen, serving since 2011. The name comes from the library, one of the most democratic places in the city.
The bar roasts its own single-origin, lightly roasted coffee on a shared roaster at The Factory on Refshaleøen and has started selling beans. Espresso sits alongside hand-poured V60 and batch-brewed filter. The almond croissant is the signature, baked on site twice a day, and other pastries and bread are made from scratch behind the counter. The long, narrow room shares seating with the library, so it suits a croissant and coffee before or after study.

I wanted a v60 but they had only batch brew, so I took an espresso which was top. Also loved the cardamom bun, but it was kind of pricey, 38 Dkk. Anyway I would still come again, there’s plenty of tables and chairs, friendly place for kids and it’s next to a library.
Good coffee from poma roastery. They also serve pastries and bun with butter and cheese. The location is inside the Copenhagen library and there is plenty of space to stay inside.
