About KARIOMONS COFFEE / カリオモンズコーヒー
KARIOMONS COFFEE ROASTER is a Nagasaki specialty coffee roaster founded in 2009 by Hiroyuki Ito, who started it at 23.
Ito began on a 500 g Fuji Royal and now roasts on a 12 kg PROBAT. The company has bought direct-trade coffee since 2011, starting with Nicaragua and adding El Salvador and Honduras, and staff visit farms to report on harvests. The name comes from an Ethiopian word for coffee ceremonies.
It runs two shops in Nagasaki City, and former staff have gone on to open roasteries such as nai in Isahaya, while Saga's Michikusa cites it as an inspiration.
