About 1841, 14 Vinicombe St
1841 on Vinicombe Street is a compact specialty coffee room in Glasgow's West End, run as the café arm of Thomson's Coffee. The name nods to the year Thomson's was founded, which makes it Scotland's oldest coffee roastery, and its beans anchor the bar alongside guest roasters such as Skylark, Oddkin, Liima and Lift.
Filter coffee is treated as a proper part of the offer, with V60 pour-over and batch brew next to espresso and flat whites. Cakes, croissants and doughnuts from Mapleleaf and Kitty's Donuts share the counter with sourdough toasties. Seating is limited, with a few tables outside, so it suits a short stay or a quick laptop hour just off Byres Road.
